My mother has been suffering from rheumatoid arthritis for years. As she gets older totally nothing appears to actually relieve the discomfort. She has tried each thing from aspirin to Embrel with out much good results.

About 6 months ago her physician prescribed Norco, or the generic Hydrocodone-APAP ten/325. She will take 3 to 4 Norco a day, depending on her arthritis pain, even though the prescription grants her to take up to six a day. This is the 1st medication that truly has offered her true anguish relief in years.

Considering that she is feeling greater, her moods have enhanced and she also has turn out to be much more active on a daily basis. My concern is that hydrocodone can be really addictive. I guess my question is, truly how significantly hydrocodone does she have to take ahead of she becomes addicted, or is she on a protected dose? Or, perhaps addiction is a much superior alternative than the pain of rheumatoid arthritis?

She is secure with the quantity she is taking. Just have her drink lots of water as with most anguish durgs they are tough on the liver and kidneys. Now if she starts to take up to six a day and nonetheless finds no relief then it is time to taper off if them and attempt a thing else.

I feel your pain, no pun truly intended. My husband lost his leg due to blood clots (happened young for him) and no quantity of medication they gave him in the hospital genuinely helped him. Do this for me.” and he mentioned okay & fell proper to sleep. It was, truthfully, a sacred moment for me, as I realized I had this strange energy more than him that the nursing staff did not have. My husband did have withdrawal troubles from the drugs they gave him but he soldier thru them and got off all of them. He is allergic to codene so I actually can’t comment on that distinct drug but pharmaceutical drugs can totally be addictive.

Perhaps you should appear at alternative medicine for the discomfort. I have heard excellent points about acupuncture. Great luck. I hope your mother finds the medicine or remedies that work but if her moods & pain are lessened maybe this is the appropriate drug for her? Truthfully can’t state because living in anguish is no joke.

Im going through the very same factor myself correct now…i have suffered for 4 years with 2 herniated discs topped off by arthritus…i am 45…i went for years with no prescrribed anguish meds other than voltaran which didnt work for me,so my physician gave me the oxycodone to begin off about a year ago…i am on 3 to three and 1/two pills a day,they are the 5mg tablets.I fought taking them for about 8 months until finally lastly the anguish created me try them…i was astonished at the distinction in how i felt,i had actually forgot how it felt to feel typical yet again most days. I am still on the three to 3 and 1/2 a day right after 1 year due to my fear of addcition as ive personally witnessed the addiction in two family members,one particular has a legit reason for making use of them the other did not,but never the less it taught me to treat the drug with respect though i do fight the fear everyday,when in a while i wll lower my dosage for days jsut to be secure and make sure im okay.
